SUMMER SERMON SERIES

We all have our favorite Bible verses, the one’s we tend to naturally gravitate toward. The same is true with pastors. At times pastors get in a rut of preaching from their favorite Bible Stories and passages. In part, this is why the lectionary (assigned Bible verses for each day and Sunday of the year) was developed and used in some church traditions. It forces pastors into different parts of the Bible.

During part of the summer months, Pastor Keith will be sharing a sermon series called “Overlooked Passages” in which we will focus on the lesser-known lectionary passages or stories from the Bible.

 DID YOU KNOW…

…that utilities (gas, electricity, water, sewer, and garbage) represent almost 10% of our budget expenditures. That means for every dollar you give to the church for general giving, almost 10 cents is used to heat, cool, keep the lights on, etc. Thank you for your faithful giving!

Join us this June.

DISCOVERING YOUR SPIRITUAL GIFTS

An important way to grow as a Christian is to understand how God has gifted you. The Bible tells us that we each have a Spiritual Gift or Gifts. A couple of weeks ago Pastor Keith invited our church family to pick up a Spiritual Gifts inventory, complete it, and return it to the church and we’ll score it and let you know what the inventory says about you and how you are gifted. If you haven’t filled one out yet, a copy of the inventory is available at the welcome desk in the Gathering Area. We also have a youth version of the Spiritual Gifts inventory, and we invite all our youth to complete one as well. Thank you for your interest and seeking to grow in Christ.

VERSE FOR REFLECTION: Matthew 4:18-20

As he walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea- for they were fishermen. And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fish for people.” Immediately they left their nets and followed him.

MISSION OF THE MONTH

Haiti Clinic

APRIL “ONE THING”

Our April “One Thing” is $10 gift cards for CASA for an ice cream treat, for example: DQ, McDonalds, Culvers, Zesto. The mission of First Circuit Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is to assure a safe, permanent, nurturing home for every abused and/or neglected child by providing a trained volunteer to advocate for them in the court system.

VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION

Today, April 21st we will take time to recognize all volunteers in our church family. It truly takes a village, and we appreciate every one of you! There will be a small gift and some sweet treats as a token of our appreciation on the 21st following worship service.

K-3rd GRADE ~ THE LORD’S PRAYER

During worship service today, we will witness the K-3rd grade classes complete the Faith Step of reciting “The Lord’s Prayer.”

+ONE

This week Pastor Keith will begin a new sermon series called “+One.” Join us for this series as we explore together what God can do when we invite “+ One” into our faith experience.  Everyone is welcome to bring a + One to worship!

 100 DAYS OF PRAYER

United Methodists from across the Dakotas & Minnesota Conferences are being asked to join in 100 days of prayer beginning April 1. The idea for 100 Days of Prayer emerged out of a desire to cover the following United Methodist events with prayer: General Conference (April 23- May 3 in Charlotte, NC), The Dakotas Annual Conference (June 6-8 in Bismark, ND) and the North Central Jurisdiction Conference (July 10-13 in Sioux Falls, SD). The hope is that these prayers will act as an anchor for those United Methodists who are walking through General, Annual, and Jurisdictional Conference season with mixed emotions.

The Conference will provide materials to help guide us all in this time of prayer. These prayers will resonate with the overall human experience- struggles in our personal lives, anxiety about the state of our nation, hopes or uncertainties about the future- so that any person who reads or hears them will feel like they are giving words to the longings of their heart. Resources can be found at (www.dakotasumc.org) or by clicking this link:
