VERSE FOR REFLECTION: John 14:1-3

Don’t be troubled. Trust in God. Trust also in me. My Father’s house has room to spare. If that weren’t the case, would I have told you that I’m going to prepare a place for you? When I go to prepare a place for you, I will return and take you to be with me so that where I am you will be too.

MISSION OF THE MONTH

 Haiti Alive

In short, things in Haiti are a mess. In LaGonave, the availability and cost of food are the biggest issues. School feedings have been cut to 3 days a week. The elderly and Women’s Village are also in need. Funds are needed to continue the ministry of Haiti Alive which our church has supported over the years. Thank you for your continued support and interest in Haiti Alive.

JUNE “ONE THING”

Our June “One Thing” is thin Crayola markers for Love Feast backpack give away. Last year they gave away 800 backpacks to children in Mitchell and the surrounding area.

JULY “ONE THING”

Our July “One Thing” will be Knorr pasta or rice sides for Safe Place of Eastern South Dakota.

FUN AND FELLOWSHIP

Join us for fun and fellowship on Sunday, August 11th@ 2pm for The Church Basement Ladies production at the Mitchell Area Community Theatre. All are welcome to potluck, even if you didn’t go to the play.

SUMMER SERMON SERIES

We all have our favorite Bible verses, the one’s we tend to naturally gravitate toward. The same is true with pastors. At times pastors get in a rut of preaching from their favorite Bible Stories and passages. In part, this is why the lectionary (assigned Bible verses for each day and Sunday of the year) was developed and used in some church traditions. It forces pastors into different parts of the Bible.

During part of the summer months, Pastor Keith will be sharing a sermon series called “Overlooked Passages” in which we will focus on the lesser-known lectionary passages or stories from the Bible.

 DID YOU KNOW…

…that utilities (gas, electricity, water, sewer, and garbage) represent almost 10% of our budget expenditures. That means for every dollar you give to the church for general giving, almost 10 cents is used to heat, cool, keep the lights on, etc. Thank you for your faithful giving!
