VOLUNTEER AND SAFE SANCTUARY TRAINING

Becky will be providing volunteer and safe sanctuary training for those that are signed up to help with the preschool and elementary Sunday school classrooms. The training will be on Wednesday, August 23rd at 5:30 PM at the church. If you have any questions, please contact Becky at 605-996-7721.

MISSION OF THE MONTH

CASA

The mission of First Circuit Court Appointed Special Advocates is to assure a safe, permanent, nurturing home for every abused and/or neglected child by providing a trained volunteer to advocate for them in the court system.

AUGUST “ONE THING”

Our August “One Thing” is for the Mitchell School District Caring Closet- Socks for School. Socks must be “new”, and all sizes are needed for boys and girls.

AUGUST “ONE THING” 2

For 2 weeks we will be collecting non-perishable food items to help DWU’s New Student Orientation Food Drive. All food items will be donated to the Mitchell Area Food Pantry. Please bring your items to church. Let’s help stock their shelves!

PRAISE AT THE PLAZA

TODAY Sunday, August 20th at 10AM we are having worship in the Corn Palace Plaza. For those that are not familiar with the area, there is a stage on the South side of the Corn Palace with a beautiful green space. There will be some chairs available, but you can bring your own chair if you wish. Hope to see everyone there!

 LOVE FEAST

Dairy Queen Fundraiser for Love Feast will be Tuesday, August 22nd

5-8 PM. 10% of all DQ sales will be directly donated to Love Feast.

BACKPACK BLESSING

We will have a special blessing of backpacks on Sunday, August 27th during worship. We invite all children, youth, teachers, and school administrators to bring your backpacks to worship. We will pray over them for the school year ahead.  

FIND A NEED & FILL IT

 We are looking for and asking for volunteers. Please take a few minutes to write your name and number down in an area that you feel like you would be willing to share your time and your gifts. Thank you!

WALK TO REMEMBER

Honoring and remembering children gone too soon. Walk to Remember, August 26th, 10am-1pm at Granite Springs 25840 422nd Ave, Alexandria SD. Along the walking path will be memorial signs sharing the stories of the children being remembered. If you have any questions, please contact LeAnn Moe at 605-770-8193.

SUNDAY SCHOOL, CONFIRMATION & YOUTH GROUP REGISTRATION

If you have not registered your child yet, please do so as soon as you can. Each year we ask parents to register your child/youth so that we have your most current information on file. Registration is available on-line as well as hard copies available by Becky’s office door.

ADULT BIBLE STUDY

Natalie Piehl will once again have an adult bible study based on the book title Immerse: Beginnings beginning in September. She will offer a study on Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM and/or Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM. Books are for sale for $14.00 each. Please let Natalie know if you are interested or if you have any questions.

COUNTY FAIR STAMPS & COBORN’S RECEIPTS

We are still collecting County Fair Stamps and Coborn receipts for August, September, and October. Please place them in the marked drawers at the top of the lower-level stairs
