MISSION OF THE MONTH

CASA

The mission of First Circuit Court Appointed Special Advocates is to assure a safe, permanent, nurturing home for every abused and/or neglected child by providing a trained volunteer to advocate for them in the court system.

AUGUST “ONE THING”

Our August “One Thing” is for the Mitchell School District Caring Closet- Socks for School. Socks must be “new”, and all sizes are needed for boys and girls.

AUGUST “ONE THING” 2

For 2 weeks we will be collecting non-perishable food items to help DWU’s New Student Orientation Food Drive. All food items will be donated to the Mitchell Area Food Pantry. Please bring your items to church. Let’s help stock their shelves!

WORSHIP IN THE PLAZA

Mark your calendars! We are having worship in the Corn Palace Plaza on Sunday, August 20th at 10AM. For those that are not familiar with the area, there is a stage on the South side of the Corn Palace with a beautiful green space. There will be some chairs available, but you can bring your own chair if you wish. There is a parking lot to the South of the plaza, right behind the Scoreboard for easy access. We will not be having a potluck afterwards- we will have that at our Sunday School kickoff in early September.

COOKOUT & KICKBALL

Join us TONIGHT for a last bash of summer, August 13th from 5-7pm at Patton Young Park, 1100 W. Cedar Ave. We will provide hot dogs and hamburgers and you are asked to bring a side to share. At 6pm we will have a FUMC vs Fusion kickball game to raise money for The Caring Closet. All ages are invited to play. FUMC will wear red, and Fusion will wear blue. All are welcome!

FIND A NEED & FILL IT

You may have noticed a display area in our gathering area decorated with sand and buckets. We are looking for and asking for volunteers. Please take a few minutes to write your name and number down in an area that you feel like you would be willing to share your time and your gifts. Thank you!

GOT YOUR “CORN” ON??

It’s almost that time of year for the “Tour de Corn”!! Once again Pastor Keith is going to hit the road on two wheels. And YES, once again he will be pedaling for a project! Eliot Hanks and several of our youth have a dream of starting a band/choir for our youth group, youth worship, ect. All money raised will go to help purchase equipment and items needed for the youth band. There are sign-up sheets available for sponsorship opportunities. Thanks for supporting our youth!

WALK TO REMEMBER

Honoring and remembering children gone too soon. Walk to Remember, August 26th, 10am-1pm at Granite Springs 25840 422nd Ave, Alexandria SD. Along the walking path will be memorial signs sharing the stories of the children being remembered. To honor a child and/or to order t-shirts,

visit www.healinghopes.com. If you have any questions, contact LeAnn Moe at 605-770-8193.

SUNDAY SCHOOL AND YOUTH GROUP REGISTRATION
