Our November “One Thing” is mac & cheese for the Salvation Army’s Christmas Baskets. The Salvation Army distributes these baskets to those in need.
SHARE YOUR NATIVITY
We are asking our church family to share your nativities with us and the community on December 2nd and 3rd. We will have a display area in the chapel and would love to include any nativities that you are willing to share. The dates for this event are December 2nd and 3rd with a presentation from Dr. Forbes on December 3rd at 1pm.
FOLLOWING…
Pastor Keith began a 5-part sermon series highlighting five practices that United Methodists commit to that help define our faith in God and steps we take to follow Jesus. “Following” isn’t just a social media term…it is a way of living our faith and allowing Jesus to guide us on our journey of life.
CANDY FOR CHRISTMAS PROGRAM
We are accepting candy for our Children’s Christmas Program which will be on Sunday, Dec.10th during worship. Donations can be dropped off at the office. Thank you!
ADVENT STUDY
“HEAVEN & EARTH” BY WILL WILLIMON
This year’s Advent Study will be a zoom-based study led by Bishop Lanette Plambeck, but Pastor Keith will gather with anyone from our church family that wishes to participate in the chapel. The study will be held for four weeks beginning Nov. 28th from 7-8:15 (maybe 8:30 to include our own discussion time.) You can participate in this study from your home or the church, but you must sign up through the conference website: https://www.dakotasumc.org/news/join-the-2023-advent-study-in-heaven-and-earth. We have ordered 15 books ($14.33 ea.) so please contact the office to reserve one or if you have any questions.
BISHOP’S THANKSGIVING OFFERING
This year’s “Bishop’s Thanksgiving Offering will go to each church’s preferred local food pantry. This is being called the “5/2 Project” for the 5 loaves and 2 fish that Jesus multiplied in order to feed thousands of people. We are going to connect the Bishop’s Thanksgiving Offering with our December “One Thing” which will be to the Mitchell High School Food Pantry. There will also be a donation box on the “One Thing” stand for those that want to donate cash or a check.
MEMBERSHIP CLASS
Pastor Keith will be offering a membership class on Sunday, November 12th following worship service. Lunch will be provided for those that are interested and class should be finished by 1PM. If you are interested, please let the office know so we can plan accordingly.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT YOUTH GROUP MEALS
We are still in need of food or cash donations for the Wednesday night meals for our youth and their leaders. If you would like to provide part of the meal, that is okay too. There is a sign-up sheet located by the Connection Center Desk. If you have any questions, please let Becky or Cindy know, or call the office at 605-996-7721.
THANK YOU
Thank you so much for contributing to this year’s ALS walk. With your help our team raised a little over $7,000! At this time the tally for the walk is a little over $100,000. Research and new technologies are getting closer to making ALS a livable disease and finding a cure a possibility. My family and I appreciate your generosity! ~Christy Wilson
SHOEBOX CHRISTMAS
If you haven’t returned your shoebox yet, please have it at the church by Tuesday, Nov. 7th. Thank you to everyone that provided a shoebox. You truly help make Christmas special for so many.
