Home for Now. Home for Now is a newly organized nonprofit in Mitchell with a mission to work with faith-based and community organizations in providing sustainable solutions to address poverty and homelessness in Mitchell.

INVITE ONE PERSON

The Communications Team launched a new campaign earlier this year to encourage growth with internal volunteerism, participation in FUMC committees, and attendance at in-person or virtual worship services. We encourage you to continue inviting your + one.

YOUTH LEADERSHIP

Are you interested in helping to grow a community of youth that seeks to build connections by loving God, others, and self, then we are looking for you. We are in search of some adult leadership to help with our Wednesday evening and possibly Sunday morning youth ministries. If you’d like more information or are interested, please talk to Becky Koch or Pastor Keith.

DO UNTO OTHERS

This Sunday Pastor Keith begins a new sermon series entitled “Do Unto Others.” This series and title come from Luke 6:31 where Jesus is teaching his followers about loving their enemies. In a world that seems to be quick to categorize people as friends or enemies, Jesus’ words are so very relevant for us yet today. In this series we’ll be focusing on five key components for loving our enemies, or how to treat one another in a very polarized world. The five components are Kindness, Respect, Love, Humility, and Compassion. As we come to a very divisive season in our nation, that of a nation election, may we focus on what Jesus has to say about how we should treat one another, even those we may disagree with. Our call is to …” Do Unto Others…”! If you’d like to be a part of this campaign, T-shirts are available for purchase.

BACKPACK BLESSING

We will have a special blessing of backpacks on Sunday, September 22nd during worship. We invite all children, youth, teachers, and school administrators to bring your backpacks to worship. We will pray over them for the school year ahead.

ADULT BIBLE STUDY

The Immerse Bible Study will pick up again with the start of Sunday School on September 15. We will be starting off with Prophets. We will again plan to hold two classes. We will meet on Sundays at 9am and Wednesday evenings at 7pm. Please let Natalie Piehl know if you have any questions. Books are available for purchase for $13/ea.

SERVICE OF HOPE AND HEALING

FOLLOWING LOSS BY SUICIDE

Join us today at 4pm!  As part of September being Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, our church will once again host a Service of Hope and Healing for those whose lives have been touched by the tragedy of suicide. The service will take place today, Sunday, September 15th at 4pm in our Worship Center. Please share this information with family and friends who have experienced the death of a loved one by suicide. Our goal is to provide a service in which we allow people to remember those who died, and to provide hope and healing for those who live.
