VERSE FOR REFLECTION: Colossians 3:12-14
As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

OCTOBER “ONE THING”
Our October “One Thing” is stove top stuffing for the Mitchell Area Food Pantry Thanksgiving baskets.
YOUTH GROUP
Wednesday Oct. 23rd we will be attending the DWU Youth Rally, 6pm to 8pm. The church bus will be transporting youth to and from the rally. THERE WILL BE NO SUPPER SERVED ON THAT NIGHT.
Thursday, Oct. 24th the youth will help serve Love Feast. Each family is asked to bring a $10 donation to cover our expenses. Cindy is looking for youth and parents to help set up from 3:30-5:15 and to serve from 5:15 to 6:45pm.
Saturday, Oct 26th is the Main Street Trick or Treat event. Youth are asked to help with this event from 2-4pm. Child-friendly costumes may be worn. Please let Cindy know if you can help hand out candy.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT YOUTH GROUP MEALS
Do you want to help our YOUTH GROUP but don’t know how? One way to help is by providing a Wednesday night supper for them. Use the QR Code on the bulletin board or there is a sign-up sheet on the connection center desk. Please reach out to Becky if you have any questions.
SHOEBOX CHRISTMAS
The Christmas tree is up! Becky has placed the angel tree in the gathering area. Please grab a tag, instructions, and a shoebox. Help make Christmas special for a child in need. The deadline is Sunday, November 3rd. Please reach out to Becky if you have any questions.
YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!!!
Help Pastor Keith with his homework. As a part of the class he is taking at DWU, he needs to gather some information from our church family. If you could, please pick up a church survey, fill it out, (your name is not needed on the survey) and once completed return the form to the church office. This will help Pastor Keith with his class project. Copies of the survey are located on one of the high tables in the gathering area.
DO UNTO OTHERS
Pastor Keith’s sermon series “Do Unto Others” will continue this week with the focus on Compassion. As we come to a very divisive season in our nation, that of a national election, may we focus on what Jesus has to say about how we should treat one another, even those we may disagree with. Our call is to “Do Unto Others…”
HELP WANTED
We are seeking a self-motivated individual to fill the position of full-time custodian. The custodian will be responsible for maintaining the church building and premises. Candidate should have janitorial and basic maintenance skills and be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Apply in person at FUMC or email tonya@downtownfirstumc.com. Wage is dependent on experience. MARK YOUR CALENDARS
Sunday, November 17th at 7:30pm we will have our church conference here at the church. More information to come. All are welcome.
