VERSE FOR REFLECTION: Matthew 5:15-16
No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.

MISSION OF THE MONTH
DWU Mission Trip
JANUARY “ONE THING”
For our January “One Thing”, rather than asking you to purchase something to donate we are providing the opportunity for all of us to clean out some drawers or shelf space in a closet. Life Quest is collecting gently used t-shirts that will be turned into tote bags for Mitchell Area organizations. So, if you are looking to downsize, let our January One Thing help. Bring your excess T-shirts to church and they will be recycled. Please, no T-shirts with alcohol or profanity.
FEBRUARY “ONE THING”
Our February “One Thing” will be soup for the Mitchell Food Pantry. The food pantry serves many families in need within our community.
SUMMER CAMP REGISTRATION
Tired of the cold weather? Set your sites on warmer days ahead by planning to attend church camp! Our United Methodist camps provide a great opportunity for people of all ages to experience Christ, Community and Creation! Registration opened this week. Check out the website
https://www.dakotasumc.org/camping/camps-and-events or see Becky for more information.
FAITH BEYOND__________!
As followers of Jesus the desire is that we would all experience a faith that is alive and vibrant that leads us to a closeness with God and a connection with those around us. This life of faith is intended to be something that is with us not just during Worship, Youth Group, Sunday School, or Study Group, etc. Our faith in Jesus is intended to be something that shapes and impacts our lives every day of the week. Pastor Keith’s next sermon series, beginning February 2, will help us consider five compass points that can guide us in the journey that brings faith to life! Join us for worship…and the journey!
CPR & AED TRAINING
We will be offering CPR & AED training for anyone that is interested. The training will be held February 3rd from 6-9pm at the church. The cost is $50 however, health ministry will pay for half so your cost is only $25. We are limited to 25 people so please R.S.V.P the office 605-996-7721.
CALIFORNIA FIRE RELIEF
We’ve all been hearing of the devastating fires out in California. If you would like to support the relief efforts to those who have been impacted by these deadly and devastating fires, you can give through UMCOR (United Methodist Committee of Relief). 100% of your gift will go to relief efforts. You can give via the following link: https://umcmission.org/advance-project/901670/.
LEADERSHIP FORUM #3- NEW BEGINNING
Our 3rd Leadership Forum with Lin Van Hofwegen will be held on Sat., February 1st from 8:50- 1:00 pm in the chapel. Please mark your calendars and plan to join us as we continue with our work of redefining our purpose and work of ministry in our community and in the world.
LUKE & ACTS IN 2025
Beginning in January, Bishop Lanette is encouraging United Methodist across the Dakotas-Minnesota Area to join in a journey through Luke and Acts, reading one chapter each week. This shared experience will foster a sense of encouragement, challenge, and community as we delve into the seamless story of Jesus’ life, ministry, death, resurrection, and the Spirit’s work through the early church. Comprised of 52 chapters together, they provide a natural framework for intentional spiritual practice throughout the year. This week’s reading is Luke chapter 4.

PRELUDE: Special Music by our Youth
GATHERING SONG: Reckless Love
GREETING:
CALL TO WORSHIP:
L: It was a dark, meaningless thing,
P: this life, before light.
L: Then he came, we thought, to do many things;
P: to our surprise, he called us, saying: “You are the salt of the
earth and the light of the world.”
L: So he has called us: To be the light in this world;
P: to dispel the darkness of hate and injustice.
L. So he has called us, from every nation, culture, and language,
P: all purified by Jesus to be the light.
L: So he has called us, from every nation, culture, and language,
P: all gifted by the Holy Spirit, to be light of every kind.
L: Some of us are daylight, some candlelight, some flickering fire,
P: all gifted by the Holy Spirit, and all beloved as we are.
L: He is come, through us, to do many things;
P: To our joy, he has called us, saying: “Let your light shine
before others.”
L: It is a bright, joyful sunrise,
P: his kingdom, coming with light.
L: So he has called us, from every nation, culture, and language;
P: May the peoples shine their light, and give glory to God.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
